BIM – Business Information Modelling

Steve Voase, Keith Ritchie and Claire Gawthorne are our appointed BIM Champions. They are all graduates of the National Federation of Builders BIM Champion Programme.

BIM is a collaborative way of working, underpinned by digital technologies which unlock more efficient methods of designing, creating and maintaining our assets. BIM embeds key product and asset data and a 3 dimensional computer model that can be used for effective management of information throughout a project lifecycle – from earliest concept through to completion. It is the Government’s intention to require collaborative 3D BIM ‘with all project and asset information, documentation and data being electronic’ on all Government projects by 2016.

As from 2016 all local authority schemes will be developed using BIM, therefore we are embracing the BIM culture and taking steps to up skill our team, liaise with our supply chain and our clients. We are working with the National Federation of Builders, utilising their BIM webinars and workshops. We have also joined their BIM Champion programme being delivered over five months to work with other companies sharing knowledge and practical activities to gain a detailed understanding of BIM.
